Turning a shed into a clubhouse (have electricity) any ideas?
We have a shed out back that's about 60 sq. ft. It has pretty high ceilings. My mom says we can't paint it. We put up surf posters and set up some chairs. There's a mini-fridge, Guitar Hero III, TV, and PS2, but it lacks furniture charm. We have about $40 and we're on a MAJOR budget. We're going for the rustic theme. PS We are also renting it out for $5 a half hour, so it has to look nice for the people. Some people came today, and it was weird because there were only a few beach chairs.
Every weekend for the next few weeks hit a bunch of garage sales and see what you can find in the way of furniture and things to use for decorations. Also, visit the thrift shops (like Salvation Army or Goodwill) furniture stores or consignment shops that sell furniture. You'd be surprised what you can find for $5 or $10.
Also, remember to look at things with a new eye. Think about what you can do with something. For instance, if someone in the neighborhood just cut down a big tree and has a bunch of chunks of tree trunk - chairs! Just sand down the top and paint with varnish. Look for construction sites with junk left over. Ask the construction foreman if you can have some of the leftover pieces: concrete pipe = bench, large wire or cable spool = table. Visit a car junkyard and see what you can get for your money if you rip it out yourself: car seats to sit on, or hubcaps for decoration, or wheels to sit on.
Last but not least - dumpster diving behind furniture stores and the mall. You may want to ask a security guard if it is ok before you start hauling off, some places don't want people looking thru the trash (afraid they'll find too much good stuff and stop spending money).
