My neon has black fins, is that a good sign?

Either you have a black neon tetra which is black with a whitish stripe. However, if it has a blue stripe, then a red stripe all the way across from head to tail, its a cardinal tetra.
If the red stripe is half the size of the blue one, its a neon tetra.
If you have made sure the fish is definatly neon tetra, I would say that it is normal for it to have black fins. Like people have different colour skins. And the same for cardinal tetras.
Black neon tetras are supposed to have black fins.
Fin rot could be the case though. This means that the fins go darker and rot away. Test your water, and look at your fish to see if there are signs of the fins "Shrinking". If they are, go to a fish shop and buy treatment. Its perfectly treatable, My goldfish recovered from it.
