Looking for a good HD camcorder?
Hi there,
I want to spend between £300-400 on an HD video camera. I want to use it for recording me and my mates when we go out and using underwater for when i go diving. I know that i have to get the underwater casing for the Hd camera, i was wondering 2 things,
1. Whats the best value HD camera you can get for around £300-400 in terms of features etc.
2. And are the underwater HD cases universal, or do they only fit a certain type of camera?

There is no good high definition camcorder for your stated budget.
The least you should be looking at are the Sony HDR-HC9 or Canon HV30.
For the housings, it depends how deep you'll be going. The hard-case housings are more expensive than the camcorders and can go deeper than the soft-case housings. They are not "universal" - though for consumer camcorders, some housings will fit many different cameras because the camcorders are all about the same size.
Sony has kits for some of their camcorders for underwater use - they do not go very deep.
Check Ewa-Marine for soft-case underwater housings. Check bhphotovideo for hard-case housings - and remember, if you get beyond about 8 meters, you will need underwater lights, too...
